Living In A Multicultural Society Essay
Today it is not unusual to see people of all different races, ethnic backgrounds or cultural groups living in one society. Our society is formed of a mix of different people and sometimes it is not easy to define ones self. Since we live in a society that is influenced by many social aspects expressing ones personal identity may be a hard task. Aspects of society that make it hard to identify ones self include a persons sexual orientation, their ethnicity and their lifestyles. In society there are many labels that are put on people because of their sexual orientation. For years people have been taught that the correct way to live is to be in a heterosexual marriage. Andrew Sullivan states in his article What Are Homosexuals For? that ââ¬Å"Heterosexual marriage is perceived as the primary emotional goal for your peers; and yet you know this cannot be your fateâ⬠(Sullivan 351). By stating this Sullivan makes it apparent that being a homosexual presents a challenge for the individual because he or she is considered different then others because of his or her sexual orientation. Sullivan also inquires the idea that without homosexuals in todayââ¬â¢s society there are some things that would never be made sense of or even acknowledge. Sexual orentation may not be accepted by many in society, but it is a growing idea that people are becoming more adapt to because it is being exposed more and more in society. Another problematic area to identifying ones self is their ethnicity. Society sometimes does not make it easy to express yourself if you are not white. What I mean by this is that sometimes because youââ¬â¢re of a different race other then white like Spanish or African-American there may be disadvantages for you in society. For instance, I have a friend named Pedro and because Spanish is the only language he knows fluently before taking regular English courses in college he must first take and pass English as a second language. Language barriers are a part of everyday life for minorities. Not only does this mean that they will have to learn our English language it also means that they must find a way to hold on to their personal cultural backgrounds. A persons lifestyle can influence their role in society not only does it define who they are but it may present obstacles when trying to be acceptedà in society. Zora Hurston lived in an all black society and was conditioned to their way of life and knew no other. Hurston states, ââ¬Å"White people differed from colored people to me only in that they rode through town and never lived thereâ⬠(Hurston 385). It was not until Hurston left her society that she realized that her lifestyle was much different then others. She expected that people of different cultures or who grew up in other areas had the same mind set as her, she found this not true. Despite the fact that she was colored there were many things that differed between her and society as whole. It was not just the color of her skin. A multicultural society presents obstacles to all humans, every person tries to find out who they are and where they stand in the world. Homosexual, heterosexual, Spanish, English, black or white it does not matter where you come from or what you look like there are always social changes, stereotypes, ethnicity differences and cultural differences, itââ¬â¢s just a way of life. My Future Plans Essay
As a current senior in high school, I have reached the point where it is time for me to decide what I want to do with my life. Ã Throughout my four years in high school, I have been intrigued by a variety of different paths such as teaching, marine science, and even journalism. Ã After growing up a little and taking a better notice of my interests and likings, I have noticed my love for sports, fitness, and health. Ã My first plan for the future is to graduate from Oakland Mills High School and receive my high school diploma. Ã After this I will attend East Carolina University, or ECU, in Greenville, NC. I want to major in exercise science and minor in exercise physiology. My first few years in college I would like to gain experience in the field by obtaining a work-study position that will help me develop new skills in exercise science work such as a student athletic trainer. I would also like to play club lacrosse for ECU during my four years there. Ã Either my junior or senior year in college I would like to study abroad in Europe. Ã I hope to get work-study on campus my freshmen year so I can save up money by the time this comes around. Ã After four or five years of school I would hope to graduate with a bachelors degree. Ã After graduation I do not want to settle down right away. Ã I would either want to volunteer for the peace core abroad for a year in the Middle East or travel on my own, if possible. Ã After this I would want to move back to Maryland or D.C. so I can be close to my family. Ã I would like to either get a job in training, therapy, or coaching. Ã While the future is undecided and unknown, it is a time for changes and new things. Ã Although I know it will be a long journey I will remain open to all possibilities and be proactive while continuing to asses all of my options.

Consumer Psychology and Buying Behaviour Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words
Consumer Psychology and Buying Behaviour - Essay Example On the other hand, the marketers need to incorporate their understanding in the involvement principle into the marketing campaigns in order to assist the consumer in their buying decision behavior. The marketing model that is most used by marketers has two distinctive parts. The first part entails a description of a population of ââ¬Ëconsumersââ¬â¢ who individual choose to buy various competing brands over and over again. The second one entails brand management especially when changing the attributes of a brand like the price, or quality in response to events in the marketplace. Several factors have been said to influence marketing. Once a company has carried out efficient marketing research, it is important to ensure that it introduces the approved product and/or service for the market. Location or place is an imperative aspect of marketing where products and or services are distributed. Marketing also entails promotion of products by given companies. It is used to inform cust omers about the new product that the company intends to bring into the market. The market must be dominated by the element of value for products and services. Most potential consumers tend to buy products or services sold at low prices. Loyalty denotes the likeliness of some consumers to stick to the same products. This serves as the key effect and determinism in the market. Psychology entails how and in what ways aspects of the actual products and /or services in the market influences people to make their choices, by possibly buying a product that is different from the previous one. Sociology entails the manner in which one personââ¬Ës buying is influenced by that of others. In essence, there is the tendency of people willing to buy the same brands as others leading to a lock in one product that dominates the market without even considering the fact that the competitors have more or less identical ââ¬Ëqualitiesââ¬â¢ that may include price. Introduction Marketing is the sel ling of products and services to potential clients in a given environment at a given time. It basically entails the potential clients that are available and how to handle them. Hence, customer psychology and buying behaviour is necessary in any marketing plan because, clients are the most important elements in growth of businesses. Without marketing, potential customers are not able to learn about the existence of products and services they miss, and this leads to lack of success in business (Kinley et al 2010). Essentially, the large part of the marketing focuses on consumer behavior. Thus, application of psychology acts as a paradigmatic influence in explaining human behavior in terms of consumer perceptions and preferences of certain products and services. On the other hand, the marketers need to incorporate their understanding in the involvement principle into the marketing campaigns in order to assist the consumer in their buying decision behavior. In marketing, most consumer p roducts are designed in the manner that appeals to the customers, encouraging them to buy. Thus, industrial and manufacturer tend to focus more on understanding and manipulating products attributes (Kinley et al 2010). Nether the less, buying behavior is not a function product but also a function of the consumer, the social environment of other customers, the competing products in the marketplace, and the brand marketing strategy. Hence, it is important to first understand the psychology of the consumers, and the sociology of consumer groups or networks. The marketing model that is most used by marketers has two distinctive parts.

Should the government provide health care Essay
Should the government provide health care - Essay Example However, there is no sufficient evidence supporting the failures of government healthcare. Moreover, many developed countries such as Canada and Britain have successfully initiated a national healthcare plan. Therefore, governments should provide healthcare to the citizens. There are several arguments in support of government healthcare. Firstly, the initiation of government healthcare will ensure that everyone has access to healthcare. Many people do not have access to healthcare because many employers are not providing healthcare insurance due to increased premiums. Therefore, employees are carrying the burden of healthcare and many opt not to apply for health insurance. Accessing healthcare in hospitals is expensive for many citizens and this leads to deterioration of their health. The governmentââ¬â¢s provision of healthcare will ensure every citizen is able to access medical attention regardless of their financial status. Privatized healthcare is costly and not everyone can afford to pay for check-ups, health insurance premiums, and prescriptions. The healthcare provided by the government will be free for all citizens (Kaplan and Rodgers, 2009). Government healthcare would also improve the quality of healthcare as the health professionalsââ¬â¢ time will not be wasted in processing insurance claims. Competition of insurance companies would be eradicated as the government would be in charge of healthcare administration. A lot of time is wasted in handling many insurance claims. A lot of insurance paperwork needs to be filled and claims need to be submitted. Therefore, the initiation of a government healthcare plan would ensure that healthcare professionals would only focus on treating their patients (Patel and Rushefsky, 2006). In addition, provision of healthcare by the government can help in regulating insurance companies. In privatized healthcare, insurance companies make a lot of money by raising premiums unfairly. Moreover, insurance

BUS 101 Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
BUS 101 - Essay Example When the central bank is "tightening", it slows the process of private bank issue by selling securities on the open market and pulling money (that could be loaned) out of the private banking sector. It reduces or increases the supply of short term government debt, and inversely increases or reduces the supply of lending funds and thereby the ability of private banks to issue new money through debt. The operative notion of easy money is that the central bank creates new bank reserves (in the US known as "federal funds"), which let the banks lend out more money. These loans get spent, and the proceeds get deposited at other banks. Whatever is not required to be held as reserves is then lent out again, and through the magic of the "money multiplier", loans and bank deposits go up by many times the initial injection of reserves. (Wilkepedia.org.) Accounts Payable: This is the most important source of short-term financing for many firms. Beware that increased use of Accounts payables (such as by not paying off when you should) can be expensive as most firms offer favorable terms for prompt payment and delaying payments can also upset your suppliers.
